This platform gives you the opportunity to connect practice-based research to the world and increase the impact of practice-based research. The platform provides space for presenting information about researchers, research projects and results, but you can also search for other research, publications, people involved or institutions. Connect, share and save on Publinova, creating your own environment of interests and connections. In addition, an editorial team provides interesting content that shows the impact that practice-based research can have on society.
Publinova is a new platform in collaboration with the universities of applied sciences. The platform will be improved and further developed in the near future. We cannot do this alone, would you like to contribute to the improvements? Keep an eye on the development meetings.
The applied research of universities of applied sciences arises from a question or problem from practice. Results are knowledge, insights, products and services that contribute to innovation in professional practice and solving social issues. The knowledge gained contributes directly to that professional practice and thus enhances the quality of higher vocational education. Practice-oriented research is thus focused on and inspired by professional practice and thus distinguishes itself from theory-based research, which is usually mainly aimed at filling theory gaps. With Publinova, we want to make practice-based research more visible, findable and available on a national level, across the borders of universities of applied sciences, regions, systems and domains.
Publinova originated from a project commissioned by 14 universities of applied sciences. For this, we collaborated with the HBO Knowledge Infrastructure (HBO kennisbank), the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (VH), Regieorgaan SIA and SURF. We were looking to improve the current knowledge infrastructure for practice-based research to meet open science ambitions. Publinova is the outcome of this search. Publinova is now a service of SURF and is being further developed with SIA and the universities of applied sciences. Read more about our open access statement.
